About Asad

The Virtuoso Pianist

Asad Anees is a professional pianist, piano teacher, and medical doctor.

He was six years old when he was introduced to the piano by his father, Ijaz Anees, his first mentor.

Practicing hard every day, Asad made progress rapidly and made his debut at 12 years at the British Deputy High Commissioner’s residence.

After that, he had the opportunity to perform in many places of Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, including Arts Council, British Council, NAPA, Goethe Institute, Alliance Francais de Karachi, Sind Club, Jinnah Medical College, Royal Palm Golf and Country Club, Al-Hamra Arts Council, Embassy of Hungry and Embassy of Poland Islamabad and Serena Hotel among others.

His international debut was at the age of 19 years when he performed a solo piano recital at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City.(Click to open)

He was also one of the finalists in the Julia Crane International Piano Competition held at the State University of New York. There he also got the privilege to have a masterclass with Prof. Gary Busch.

Asad also performs in the Faiz Festival, where Adeel Hashmi (grandson of Faiz Ahmed Faiz) and Asad combine the poetry of Faiz with classical music. This unique combination of poetry and piano has been a success, and they have also taken this show to perform in the UAE and USA.

In 2017, he successfully cleared his ATCL piano exam of Trinity College London and thus became a UK-qualified pianist.

Asad has a massive repertoire of great classical composers, including Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and Schubert, to name a few. He also plays modern compositions such as those by Einaudi, Yann Tiersen, and Yanni.

Asad has also been giving piano classes from a very young age and trained many of his students for the piano exams of the UK boards.

Apart from his love for the piano, Asad was always passionate about becoming a doctor. So he completed his MBBS degree from Jinnah Medical & Dental College on a full scholarship and currently working in the pediatric department.
